Teddie London pieces are crafted for the modern urban environment, yet the premium Nappa leather utilised in our Matte Black and Oxblood collections remains a natural, porous hide. It requires mindful curation to maintain its refined finish and structural integrity.
Please adhere to the following studio guidance to preserve the longevity of your commission.
01: THE NAPPA LEATHER PROFILE We exclusively select full-grain Nappa leather for our studio collections. Because the hide is uncorrected, it proudly retains its natural grain and unique textural characteristics. These subtle variations are the hallmark of authentic luxury craftsmanship, not a defect. While exceptionally durable, the material remains sensitive to harsh chemicals and extreme environmental factors.
02: ROUTINE MAINTENANCE
-
Surface Cleansing: Gently wipe the exterior solely with a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth.
-
Natural Drying: Never apply direct heat from radiators or hairdryers. Should your piece become wet, gently wipe away excess moisture and allow the leather to air dry naturally in a well-ventilated space.
-
Chemical Restrictions: Never apply bleach, acetone, alcohol-based wipes, or harsh household detergents to the leather. These substances will strip the natural dyes and irreversibly damage the bespoke finish.
03: ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS
-
Moisture & Rain: Nappa leather is a breathable, natural material, not a synthetic waterproof canvas. If your piece is exposed to heavy rain, gently wipe it down as soon as possible. Prolonged saturation can compromise the piece's architecture and cause the leather to swell.
-
Sunlight & Heat: Extended exposure to direct, intense sunlight can prematurely age the leather and cause tonal fading, particularly in the Oxblood colourway. When not in use, we highly recommend storing your piece in a cool, dark environment, ideally within its original studio dust bag.
04: AFTERCARE & LIMITATIONS Our quality assurance protocol strictly covers genuine craftsmanship and manufacturing faults. It does not extend to general wear and tear, accidental damage, or client oversight. Any deterioration resulting from the use of unauthorised chemical cleaners, extreme environmental exposure, or a failure to observe this aftercare guide will respectfully fall outside the remit of our studio repair service.
